About

Welcome to Bluenote, the official weekly blog of Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP), a private, independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 through 12. NDP’s sprawling campus is situated on 60, beautiful acres in Dulaney Valley, Baltimore County, Maryland. Sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, NDP has a rich history dating back to 1873.  Throughout the years, NDP encouraged thousands of young women to answer the call to “…act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God” (Micah 6:8). Rooted in those core values and dedicated to academic excellence, personal transformation, and spiritual growth,  NDP continues to inspire hundreds of young women every year to do the same.  And in return, these amazing young women – both individually and as community –  inspire us.  Every day and in a thousand ways. They inspire us with their talent, potential, and enthusiasm. With their courage, hopes, and dreams. They inspire us with their laughter, love, and friendships. Their small kindnesses, big hearts, and essential goodness. And every week, we’ll write about them and life at NDP. Bluenote will not be one note. We’ll write about moments big and small, extraordinary and ordinary, relevant and unexpected. We’ll open your eyes to the rich totality of NDP by exposing you to its many, many parts.  And in the process, we hope to inspire you. At the very least,we think Bluenote will put a smile on your face.

Bluenote is written by freelance writer/director and NDP alum, Claire Hartman. She welcomes and looks forward to your comments and contributions. Bluenote will be published once a week on Wednesdays during the academic year (can’t promise the same for summer). So stay tuned!
